If you’re buying or selling a home anywhere from Pocatello to Island Park, you’ll hear about the Upper Valley Association of REALTORS®—often shortened to UVAR. Think of UVAR as the local “hub” that supports professional real estate standards, education, and collaboration among REALTORS® across the Upper Snake River Valley. Below, we’ll translate what that actually means for you, in plain English.

UVAR is the local REALTORS® association serving our Upper Valley region of Southeast Idaho. At a practical level, UVAR creates a professional “home base” for local agents and brokerages by providing training, networking, and access to industry tools. For you, this means your agent is held to higher standards of ethics, ongoing education, and cooperation—so buying or selling is safer, clearer, and more coordinated.
UVAR is your local association. Above it is Idaho REALTORS® (the state association), and above that is NAR (the national association). This three-layer structure lets your agent tap local insight, statewide advocacy, and national tools—while keeping your transaction grounded in neighborhood-level facts.
UVAR is recognized by Idaho REALTORS® as a local board/association, and its members participate in statewide leadership and forms/policy updates that affect how contracts and disclosures protect you.
UVAR primarily serves Madison, Fremont, and Teton counties—with close ties throughout the Upper Snake River Valley. If you’re shopping in Rexburg, Sugar City, St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs, Victor, or nearby rural communities, your agent is likely a UVAR member. If your search extends toward Idaho Falls, Shelley, or Ammon, your agent may also collaborate with the Greater Idaho Falls Association of REALTORS® (GIFAR), which works hand-in-hand with UVAR and the regional MLS.
Most local listings are shared through the Snake River Regional Multiple Listing Service (Snake River MLS), which UVAR co-owns alongside other nearby associations. The MLS is a secure database where REALTORS® update home details, photos, and status changes. That cooperation is why properly marketed homes appear widely across major home-search sites—and why your agent can show you the right homes quickly.
UVAR requires new-member orientations, Code of Ethics training, and local education so REALTORS® stay current on contracts, fair housing, disclosures, and safety. New members also complete Snake River MLS orientation, ensuring they know the tools that keep your transaction accurate and transparent.
Leadership: UVAR is guided by an Executive Board and Board of Directors (roles typically include President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, State Director, Affiliate Director, and Directors by term). For the current year’s names and roles, see the public Leadership Directory.
